Manitoba Continues to Roll at Century Mile

The Manitoba based connections fared well at Century Mile on Sunday afternoon. Two Manitoba-bred horses won their respective races of the day. There was a first place finish for the Vladimir Kreker bred and owned, Tagoras (El Toro- Gabbys Promise- As Promised). The 6-year-old gelding won in race 7 and might have destroyed many Pick 5 tickets as he was at odds of 12-1 at post time. The other horse was the Tara and Garett Isman bred, Havinfuninthesun (Sunshine Beach- Emmasphere- Pro Bono Best) who won the eleventh and final race of the day. The four-year-old mare won with odds at 8-1. Both Manitoba-bred horses contributed to the Pick 5 being a carryover of $777.42.

Trevor Williams and his barn had a good day as well by picking up three wins. The first win came in the fourth race with Rock Absorber (Rocknroll Hanover- Promysquous Lady- Pro Bono Best) crossing the finish line first. The second win was by Just Marvelous (Arthur Blue Chpi- Just Say So- Real Artist) and came in the sixth race. The third win came with the 7-year-old mare, A Cowboys Dream (Living It up- Ladies Luv Cowboys- Western Terror). The B.C. bred mare won the eighth race. All three horses were the post-time favorites and had Brandon Campbell in the bike. Williams also picked up a third-place finish in the opening race with Rip It Up (Smart Shark-Outlaw Blue Danube- Blue Burner) and a second-place in the tenth race with Risin Horizon (Vertical Horizon- Raritan- Artiscape).

Trainer Kevin Hildebrandt had a second-place finish with Next Thing Smoken (Sand Shooter- Are Those Real- Jennas Beach Boy) in race four and just finished behind Rock Absorber.

The winning horse in the second race of the day was Portstownchris IR (Doonbeg-Miladies Pleasure-Flight Messenger) The 11-year owned gelding is partly owned by Derek Gilbert. Gilbert shares ownership with trainer, Christopher Lancaster.

Jacques Lambert also picked up a second-place finish as a trainer with the Manitoba-bred gelding, Munchie Chris (Toucam Sam-Dawns Early Rise- Ambro Baylor) and a third with the also Manitoba-bred Cereal Killer (Toucam Sam- Alcars Xit- Jigsaw).

The Manitoba-bred Somepeopleneedtold (Ambro Baylor- Workin Lady- Abercrombie) also finished near the top. The Darryl and Sherri Mason bred gelding finished second in the sixth race behind Just Marvelous.
