Richard Rey

How did you get into harness racing?

My family always had horses. We used to go to the races as a family event. I rode bareback most every day and raced in flat races at the local fairs. I bought my first broodmare in 1974 and had good success with her colts. Her first colt, a filly, actually won her first start for me as a trainer. Jimmy Williams drove her.

I got my trainer’s license in 1976 and my driver’s shortly after.
